Managing birds and the hazards they bring with them at your food processing facility starts with a solid plan and ends with using the right company to successfully administer that plan. IFC has the bird experts and the food processing experts! With more than 85 years of experience, we have the strategies and the skills it takes to handle nesting or roosting birds, which include:
- Safe and humane solutions based on Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- Professional-grade materials and the know-how to select the right products and strategy for each bird situation.
- Expert workmanship and guaranteed results.

Almost any structure is susceptible to a bird getting inside. Having a plan, being prepared and taking proactive precautions to protect your food from the risks birds bring with them will help. Here are some ways to be prepared at your facility:
- Close interior doors and be prepared to quickly cover sensitive and exposed products and processes.
- If possible, dim the lights and have a coordinated team of people drive the bird with flashlights or laser pointers to an open door. Birds are often stressed and confused when they get trapped indoors and are likely happy to escape.
- Have a bird mist net on hand and people who know how to use it for indoor bird capture.
Birds that enter facilities need to be treated as an emergency and removed as quickly as possible. The best thing you can do is bring in the experts that can develop an effective bird control plan. Keeping them out is better than reacting once they’re already in.
