The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has extended the comment period for the Public Meeting: Exploring Practical Strategies to Reduce Salmonella in Poultry Products by 30 days. The comment period will now end March 4.
FSIS held a public meeting Jan. 14 to discuss practical strategies for reducing Salmonella illnesses attributed to poultry products. The meeting gathered suggestions for improving FSIS data accessibility and usability, explored barriers to implementing additional Salmonella controls and investigated alternative or innovative strategies to reduce Salmonella illnesses.
FSIS said a few industry groups requested the comment period extension to provide stakeholders with additional time to prepare comments.
