Women in Food Safety, a network of women in the food safety industry, announced Ellen Mendez as winner of its inaugural Roots to Success Travel Scholarship, which provides travel to the International Association for Food Protection’s (IAFP) annual meeting July 27-30 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mendez, a food microbiologist and food safety scientist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Asunción, Paraguay, “stood out among a competitive pool of applicants with her passion and commitment to advancing food safety and food safety professionals,” said Women in Food Safety in a LinkedIn post announcing the scholarship.
The scholarship was awarded in partnership with IEH Laboratories and Consulting Group.
