WASHINGTON, D.C. – Quality Poultry & Seafood, Inc., a Biloxi, Miss., establishment, is recalling approximately 98,916 pounds of catfish fillet products produced without the benefit of federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Sept. 15.
The catfish fillet items were produced from Sept. 2, 2024, through Sept. 5, 2025, and bear various labels with establishment names that have no connection to the cause of the recall, said USDA.

These items were shipped to restaurants and retail locations in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and from the establishment’s retail store.
The problem was discovered when Quality Poultry & Seafood notified FSIS that it was producing catfish products and FSIS determined they were produced without inspection.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, said USDA. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
Food produced without inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria or other contaminants that put consumer health and safety at risk, said USDA.
The agency is concerned that some products may be in consumer and restaurant refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them, and restaurants are urged not to serve them, said USDA. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
