CHICAGO — The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) is hosting a free webinar designed to help attendees navigate today’s challenging funding landscape. The webinar will provide insights and actionable recommendations for researchers facing barriers in securing grant support due to recent federal budget cuts in the United States.

Expanding Opportunities: A Collaborative Approach to Securing Research Funding is scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, from 1-2 p.m. CDT.

IFT’s Lisa Sanders will serve as host and moderator. Presenters include Hongda Chen, former national program leader, bioprocess engineering and technology at USDA-NIFA, and Rebecca Milczarek, assistant director, research development, University of Illinois Chicago.

“Food research is vital to ensuring a safe and secure food supply as it addresses complex challenges in a constantly changing food system,” said IFT Chief Science and Technology Officer Bryan Hitchcock. “Research funding supports the development of food that is safe, nutritious and accessible to all, and as a community, we must come together and collaborate on a path forward to ensure critical food research continues.”
