The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Alliance to Stop Foodborne Illness announced the return of their food safety culture webinar series, “Collaborating on Food Safety Culture.” Series Two of the series begins Wednesday, Sept. 3, at noon ET, with the webinar “How to Turn a Problem into an Opportunity.”
The webinar will focus on how to integrate root cause analysis into the fabric of a company.
“We appreciate your patience during some scheduling changes and hope you will join us for the newly rescheduled events,” the FDA said in a constituent update.
Series Two was originally slated to begin in January, but a communications freeze ordered by the Trump administration that month put it on hold.
Series One launched in November 2021 with the aim of bringing together experts from public and private sectors to exchange ideas and experiences related to the importance of a robust food safety culture in helping ensure safe food production. As part of the FDA’s New Era of Smarter Food Safety initiative, the series explores how changing beliefs, attitudes and behaviors can reduce foodborne illness, said the Alliance to Stop Foodborne Illness.
Series Two will feature seven hour-long webinars throughout the next year, designed to deepen food safety and quality assurance professionals’ knowledge and strengthen their commitment to food safety, said FDA. Each session will feature industry experts who will share insights, real-world tools and actionable strategies to enhance food safety culture across an organization, the agency said.
Expanding upon discussions in Series One, each webinar will explore a different aspect of psychologist Edgar Schein's model of organizational culture, said the Alliance.
