ARS Rolls Out New Tellus Online Communications Platform

New email subscription service replaces AgResearch online magazine.

The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) has rolled out Tellus, its new online communications platform, replacing its legacy AgResearch online magazine. The conversion, which took months of reimagining and development, brings a fresh source of agricultural information to clients worldwide, the agency said.

Tellus is Latin for earth, and its content is designed to reach customers wherever they are—in the United States or across the globe, on desktop or mobile. In addition to informative stories about ARS research, Tellus includes new products including featured photos, infographics, photo essays, and videos. Like ARS’ mission, the site’s content will cover a variety of topics from field to fork, ranging from human nutrition and food safety, to crop and animal production.

“Our team worked energetically to reinvent how we share ARS information with the public,” says ARS Administrator Chavonda Jacobs-Young. “Although we are closing the book on AgResearch magazine, we want to continue to share the many great stories and scientific discoveries from ARS researchers across the nation, expanding our reach and readership. That’s why we are excited to announce Tellus.”

ARS is also announcing a new email subscription service for Tellus that will further enhance the customer experience in accessing information about ARS research, the agency said. This new service will make it easier to get custom content in subject areas that interest subscribers most. To subscribe to Tellus, customers sign up here.
