TULLN, Austria — Romer Labs, a global leader in diagnostic solutions for the food and feed industry, received approval from the USDA Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) for its AgraStrip Pro Ochratoxin A WATEX test kit. This kit facilitates the quantitative determination of ochratoxin A in wheat.
The AgraStrip Pro Ochratoxin A WATEX test kit was tested together with the AgraVision Pro reader for a variety of wheat samples, including whole grain wheat flour, wheat middlings, wheat red dog, wheat flour 2nd clear and wheat screenings. It had over 95% accuracy on ground samples during 21 tests.
The AgraStrip Pro WATEX test system provides for the rapid and simple on-site quantification of mycotoxins in a variety of commodities. Paired with the AgraVision Pro reader, the system allows for the independent and simultaneous testing of up to four samples in an intuitive, walk-away procedure, said Romer Labs.
Ochratoxin A is one of six analytes currently covered by the AgraStrip Pro WATEX system: solutions for total aflatoxin, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, total fumonisin and T-2/HT-2 are also available.
AOAC RESEARCH INSTITUTE APPROVAL. Romer Labs also received approval from the AOAC Research Institute for its quantitative AgraStrip Pro Total Aflatoxin WATEX test kit.
The AgraStrip Pro Total Aflatoxin WATEX test kit was approved for its high-sensitive method for quantifying total aflatoxin (B1, B2, G1 and G2) in corn and peanut paste within the range of 1.5-50 ppb (parts per billion).
"The AgraStrip Pro Total Aflatoxin WATEX test system's high sensitivity and streamlined procedure have set a new standard in mycotoxin detection,” said Kurt Brunner, managing director of Romer Labs. “We are delighted with the AOAC Research lnstitute's recognition of our system's reliability and performance. This validation reinforces our commitment to leading the market in mycotoxin testing solutions.”
The AgraStrip® Pro WATEX® test kits are lateral flow devices designed for rapid and effective on-site detection of mycotoxins in a variety of agricultural commodities. These test kits are available not only for total aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1 and G2) but also for deoxynivalenol, ochratoxin A, zearalenone, total fumonisins (B1, B2, B3) and T-2/HT-2 toxins.
When used alongside the AgraVision Pro reader, which manages timing, temperature and flow in a streamlined process, the system facilitates the testing of multiple samples and mycotoxins in under 10 minutes, said Romer Labs, boosting throughput and accuracy while reducing the likelihood of common procedural errors.
