With the 22nd anniversary falling this week, it’s only right to throwback on the legacy of Nolan Ryan Beef. No, it’s not an anniversary of his record-breaking 108.1 mph pitch (that would be 1974), his induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame (1999), or even of the start of his beef company (2000).
Instead, it has been precisely 22 years since the Texas Ranger’s infamous pounding of White Sox Robin Ventura, who charged him at the pitcher’s mound after Ryan’s pitch hit him in the ribs. It’s too bad Nolan Ryan’s All-Natural Beef was not yet found, Ventura could have used a slab of it on his head!
