ST. GEORGE, Utah — Steton has hired David A. Baker, Ph.D., MPH, CQM, as the software company’s director of food industry solutions.
While at McDonald’s, Baker oversaw the effective functioning of the company’s food safety system in 53 countries; at Gold Kist he successfully founded a new department mandated to align quality, food safety and regulatory compliance functions; and while at JohnsonDiversey Consulting, he specialized in food safety management systems where he consulted with food manufacturers, restaurant chains, in-flight catering, lodging and retail segments. Baker is also a certified SQF Consultant in 12 different food sector categories.
“Joining Steton’s team will enable me to help Steton evolve their focus and capabilities while helping my peers in the industry more easily satisfy expectations. Most organizations have well developed food safety and quality programs in place. Managers of production, quality, food safety, sanitation, maintenance and other processes need help to always be proactive, continuously effective and measure up to KPI’s,” Baker said. “Distractions caused by unavoidable mandates to manage simultaneous operations, with changing schedules and involving many individuals, exacerbate the challenges.
“While working for major players in the food industry, I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to develop, strengthen, and oversee multiple food safety and quality assurance programs,” Baker said.
Steton President and CEO Steven G. Caplin said: “Dr. Baker will help our clients and prospects strengthen their brand with additional insights into optimizing food safety and quality assurance. It’s a perfect fit.”
