Food managers no longer need to go to a testing center or have an in-person proctor supervise them while they take their exam. StateFoodSafety, a provider of online food safety training, now offers an online proctoring service that will allow food managers to take the exam from home with a remote proctor. This new testing option is an important part of why StateFoodSafety sees itself as the future of food safety certification and training.
As one of five companies accredited to provide food protection manager certification exams nationwide, StateFoodSafety said it is the first and only to offer an online proctoring option.
This is made possible through a third-party proctoring service that allows proctors to supervise exams through a webcam and microphone.
Online proctoring is a user-friendly process that involves four steps: choose a secure testing location, launch the exam with a remote proctor, take the exam, and print the certification.
With this new testing solution, the company said, it is more convenient to become a certified food protection manager, especially for food managers who do not have easy access to testing centers or other testing options.
"For years, we have heard from the food industry that they were desperate for an alternative," said CEO Bryan Chapman. “Now managers can take the exam in the comfort of their own home."
