Safe Quality Seafood Associates (SQSA) in Miami, FL has recently updated its website and service offerings for product evaluation and trainings concerning seafood safety and quality
SQSA has also opened a new office/laboratory where it offers random lot inspections for quality and safety of finished seafood products. For example, if a customer files a claim against a supplier for not conforming with product specifications, SQSA is contracted (by both parties) to inspect the lot and provide hard evidence to determine conformance with specifications.
SQSA is pleased to introduce the newest member of its team, Monty Berg. For over 30 years, Berg served as southeast regional supervisor of the U.S. Department of Commerce NOAA-Seafood Inspection Program. He is currently responsible for teaching SQSA’s Seafood Quality Assurance Course and overseeing lot inspections. During the course, Monty coaches students on how to collect representative samples, apply internationally accepted evaluation methods, and determine conformance with customer specifications. A template for scoring lots is provided by SQSA. After the course, Monty reviews the records of five lot inspections and provides feedback and assistance with QA program implementation.
