SEOUL — According to the Asia Pulse, South Korea approved imports of beef from 18 additional U.S. plants after compliance with sanitation and quality standards were confirmed by inspectors. Forty-eight facilities in the U.S. have now been approved to ship beef products to S. Korea.
National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service said the additional plants were approved as part of an April 18 agreement to lift the ban on U.S. beef and after inspectors from Seoul toured 22 slaughtering facilities in the U.S. Of those, 18 were ultimately approved.
