SEOUL — South Korea says today it will revoke import approval for a U.S. beef plant because officials found bones in a recent shipment.
The bones are banned because of fears about mad cow disease.
The facility that shipped the beef is owned by Colorado-based Swift & Company. It was not immediately clear which of Swift's U.S. plants shipped the beef. The company has meat processing plants in Grand Island, Neb., and five other states.
South Korean officials say rib bones were found yesterday in one box of a shipment. The plant that shipped the beef had previously been suspended for a similar violation in July.
