Management issues related to stored grain will be covered in a Post Harvest Update and Recertification Workshop Dec. 6, sponsored in part by Purdue Extension. The program at the Beck Agricultural Center at the Purdue Agronomy Center for Research and Education will begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration and refreshments. Educational sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with lunch provided.
The sessions for farmers, commercial grain storage handlers, pest management professionals and food processing quality-control managers will include insect biology and identification, pest management, molds and mycotoxins, grain management, energy issues associated with maintaining grain quality, and fumigation and the use of sulfuryl fluoride.
Presenters include Linda Mason, entomology professor; Charles Woloshuk, professor of botany and plant pathology; Klein Ileleji, associate professor of agricultural and biological engineering; Chad Martin, Extension renewable energy specialist; and Marty Morgan from Dow AgroSciences.
The workshop, co-sponsored by Indiana Grain and Feed Association, is part of the Continuing Certification Hour program for certified applicators. Advance registration of $95 is due by Dec. 3.
