Unitherm Food Systems, Inc., of Bristow, Okla., has announced availability of its new patent-pending Impinging Spiral Oven. The oven will be displayed at the FPSA Process Expo show in Chicago in November. A challenge with spiral ovens has been that of getting the airflow evenly across, down, and up through the spiraling belt to achieve efficiency of heat distribution throughout the cooker, the company said.
This new generation of impinging spiral ovens is applicable for use by ready-meal companies to chicken and meat processors, to bakeries, and even further processed potato and veggie products, Unitherm said, adding that the benefits are better color development, more efficient heat transfer, and faster cooking times, within the small footprint of a 40-foot long linear impingement oven spiraled into an eight-foot box.
