MANILA — The Philippine government projects higher gains from the poultry industry this year. Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Arthur Yap said May 20 that negotiations are now underway for chicken exports to the European Union, Middle East, China and other Southeast Asian economies.
Yap said the DA, in tandem with its Chinese counterpart, is now preparing the implementing rules and regulations for the protocols on imports from, and exports of heat-processed poultry meat to China.
The country’s poultry industry grossed more than $1.7 billion last year, growing nearly three percent compared to 2005.
