PARIS, France - The new GlobalRecalls portal is the first online tool gathering product recall notifications from several jurisdictions around the world and allowing users to search product recall notifications per product and per country in their own language, SGS announced.
For several years, the number of recalls has been constantly increasing throughout the world and this portal aims to raise awareness on safety concerns and to promote and improve product safety, according to SGS.
GlobalRecalls will allow consumers to check for product recall alerts for products they intend to buy in shops or on the internet. Businesses will be able to check existing or new products hazards in different countries, and national authorities will be alerted on unsafe products they should remove from the market to protect consumers.
The portal currently contains product recalls from Australia, Canada, Europe and the United States. Recalls from other OECD and non-OECD members should be added the coming months.
