LONDON - The Global Food Division of NSF International recently received two awards from the UK Society of Food Hygiene and Technology for its excellence in food safety, the company announced.
Chair of the Society Awards Judging Panel Chris Turner presented Mike Wilson, NSF International food retail danaging director, with the "Best New Product & Service" Award and Jon Adams, head of NSF’s processing inspection, received the ‘Best Auditor/Technologist’ Award during the Society’s annual luncheon on November 22nd in London.
The "Best New Product & Service" Award recognized NSF Insight, a new online food safety assessment developed jointly by NSF and Cognisco, a specialist in assessing and developing workforce competence, to provide consumer safety and business protection. The new resource provides insight into workforce performance and measurable tools for improvement by identifying how the role of managers and supervisors influence food safety practices, NSF reports.
Mary Clarke, CEO of Cognisco said, “We are delighted that Insight has won ‘best product’ for at this year’s prestigious SOFHT awards. The award win is testament to our innovative approach to assessing employee competence in all areas of food safety management. Insight is delivering compelling results for clients in the food industry, which will help raise safety standards, reduce consumer risks and protect businesses.”
The ‘Best Auditor/Technologist’ Award recognized Jon Adams, Head of NSF’s Processing Inspection, for his technical expertise in global food safety standards and sound judgment when applying these standards. He also trains new auditors on the importance of fairness, consistency and integrity with his enthusiastic demeanor, NSF said.
Catherine Watkinson, Chair of the Society, commented, “The Society of Food Hygiene and Technology Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence within the food industry and its associated industries. These two awards highlight the continued success of NSF International and its nearly 70 years of expertise the organization brings to the global food industry.”
