ANN ARBOR, Mich. — NSF International has announced the first call for nominations for the 2009 Food Safety Leadership Awards (FSLA) Program. Now in its sixth year, this program recognizes individuals that have demonstrated outstanding food safety leadership in the foodservice industry.
WHAT: Nominated participants will be recognized in one of seven categories: education and training, equipment design, packaging innovation, product development, research advances, system improvement and technology breakthroughs. Nominations for a special lifetime achievement award are also being accepted. The program guidelines are available on NSF's Web site.
WHO: Foodservice operators, manufacturers, researchers and members of academia are encouraged to submit nominations.
WHEN and WHERE: The 2009 FSLA award recipients will be announced at the Food Safety Summit, April 27, 2009, during the opening night reception at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center. This will be the second year the awards are presented at the summit.

An independent panel of food safety experts will select the winner. Nominations will be evaluated based on creativity, innovation, design, contribution to the advancement of food safety, and overall quality of contributions made.
