Microbac Names Director of Food Science

Dr. Shawn Shanmugan to take up post at Warrendale, Pa., laboratory.

WARRENDALE, Pa. - Microbac has appointed Dr. Shawn Shanmugan as director of food science at the company's Pittsburgh Division. Microbac said Shanmugan brings extensive experience in instrumentation and in the development of food chemistry methods.

Shanmugan has over 30 years of lab experience in a variety of industries, and has served in leadership and technical roles in the laboratory industry, including his most recent position as consultant for US Nonwovens, Microbac said.

"Dr. Shanmugan will fit very well into the culture of Microbac and brings the balance of technical scientific expertise and customer focus that will serve us well," said James Nokes, president, Microbac.

 

Shanmugan has served in numerous scientific roles, including 14 years with U.S. Smokeless Tobacco (UST) in Nashville, Tenn. While at UST, Shanmugan was senior scientist and analytical chemistry laboratory manager for over ten years, while also working as a research and development scientist and as lead senior scientist.
