According to the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), a recall of food items produced by Yauk's Specialty Meats out of Windsor, Colo., has been expanded.
"FSIS began a food safety assessment at the plant on December 5, 2013, and discovered that product was being produced under insanitary conditions, including rodent activity in the production, storage and retail areas of the property," FSIS reported.
The initial Yauk's recall began on December 9, and as the still ongoing investigation continued, FSIS decided to recall additional products. The recall was expanded once on December 12 to include more items, and yet again on December 16.
The latest recall expansion included “Corner Post Meats” brand hams and bacon and “Old Style Sausage” brand Smoked Andouille and Kielbasa Sausages. The products bear the establishment number "Est. 20309" on their labels, printed inside the USDA Mark of Inspection.
