Rule changes in May now limit the exporting of poultry from Minnesota, New York and West Virginia to Japan, the Philippines and Taiwan.
Taiwan:
- Effective May 16, all poultry and poultry products originating from Minnesota are ineligible. In addition, shipments transiting Minnesota must be in a sealed container.
Philippines:
- Raw poultry from West Virginia is now forbidden regardless of production date. Poultry cooked to at least 70° C (158° F) continues to be eligible.
Japan:
- Egg products derived from eggs laid on or after Nov. 10, 2006, but before March 9 2007, cannot originate from New York or Minnesota, and cannot pass through those states before going to egg processing plants. And egg products derived from eggs laid after March 9 also cannot originate from West Virginia, or pass through any of those three states.
- Poultry slaughtered in West Virginia prior to March 9 is eligible. Poultry slaughtered on or after that date is ineligible.
