Instead of just spending their days cutting meat for a living, a handful of employees of a local processing plant will be able to buy prime cuts any time they want after sharing in a large lottery jackpot.
A group of 12 lottery players, nine of whom work at Maple Leaf Foods in Burlington, held the lone winning ticket of nearly $10.6 million from the Lotto 6/49 draw of Jan. 31.
The nine employees consist of eight butchers and one general worker. The three other winners are the grown children of the lottery group’s leader.
Each winner received $881,584.
