LRQA Americas Sustainability, Inc. (LRQA) announced that it has achieved Climate RegisteredTM status with The Climate Registry following the successful measurement and independent verification of the company’s greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory. The achievement ensures LRQA’s clients and stakeholders have transparent access to the company’s greenhouse gas emissions data and enables LRQA to be among the few organizations able to participate in the North American carbon market as both a reporter and a verifier.
“Being Climate RegisteredTM demonstrates our sustainability leadership, with independently verified and measured systems that enable us to identify opportunities to continuously reduce our carbon footprint,” said Ivor John, General Manager of LRQA. He added, “The program’s assurance process is entirely consistent with our own values, and we have tremendous respect for The Climate Registry, which sets a high standard for organizations to meet.”
For over a decade, LRQA has worked with clients across North America to better manage complex environmental issues and improve their sustainability performance, and now LRQA’s GHG inventory measurement supports the company’s own efforts to further add value to clients and society by:
• implementing specific initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint, and
• identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies that further enable LRQA to invest in sustainability research and programs that support business and the community.
LRQA’s Climate RegisteredTM status follows the LRQA’s Green Business certification in April 2011 whereby its sustainable purchasing policies, waste minimization efforts, and energy and water conservation practices were recognized by the Santa Barbara County Green Business Program in Santa Barbara, California.
