LGS Specialty Sales Ltd. (LGS), an importer and distributor of citrus, grapes, and avocados, is now BRC certified. As one of the first in its category to earn this certification, the company said it is proud to be a leader in food safety, setting superior standards in the produce industry.
LGS sought the BRC certification due to its unique set of standards that are tailored to the company’s role within the supply chain. BRC certification is a rigorous standard within the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and is a great fit for LGS’ business model as an importer, the company said. As a certified company, BRC not only monitors LGS for compliance, but also verifies all of its suppliers for implementation of food safety and quality protocol.
"This investment was a valuable choice for our team knowing that it would enhance our brand quality,” said Kristina Kovac, LGS food safety director. “It is part of our company’s model to always be forward-thinking and a step ahead.”
“From the very beginning, we have cared deeply about food safety, not just to protect our customers - which is of utmost important to us - but to also enhance our credibility and relationships with retail partners,” said Luke Sears, LGS president and founder of. “We want them to be assured that the products we provide are the best available from around the world and protected with the highest standards from our growers to their produce bins.”
