From humble beginnings in 1953, Brazilian beef behemoth JBS SA is now the world’s largest beef packer. JBS completed its $1.5 billion acquisition of Swift & Co. in mid July, which not only marks an unprecedented foreign investment in the U.S. meat business, but also creates a global beef business that will rival Cargill Inc. in scope.
