The International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) published the following statement on the IAFP 2020 conference scheduled for August in in Cleveland, Ohio, as related to COVID-19:
“IAFP remains committed to planning responsibly for IAFP 2020 over the dates of August 2-5, 2020, in Cleveland, Ohio. Based on information currently available, the meeting will take place as scheduled.
“We continue to monitor developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) including statements and guidance issued by the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). IAFP will take all matters regarding this situation seriously.
“We are working with the Destination Cleveland (Convention & Visitors Bureau), Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland, and the Cleveland hotels to ensure the safest meeting possible. Attendees of IAFP 2020 are expected to follow recommended precautions to prevent transmission of infectious diseases.
“IAFP continues to follow updates from health authorities throughout this worldwide crisis. As the situation is currently very fluid we plan to assess the situation on June 1 to make a ‘go’ or ‘no-go’ decision.”
