OWENSBORO, Ky. - Hollison Technologies, provider of products and services to the food industry to detect contaminants in the food supply chain, announced that it had received additional funding from a variety of sources. While financial details were not disclosed, the capital raised will be used to commercialize its offerings.
Hollison has developed patent pending technology that enables continuous sampling of food commodities with state-of-the-art detection of contaminants ranging from chemical to biological and radiological. The technology also allows food producers to follow commodities through a web-based software tracking capability. What makes Hollison’s approach unique is that the sampling, detection and tracking can take place much faster than traditional approaches while also operating outside a conventional lab.
‘We are excited to receive this additional funding enabling us to bring our products and services to market to protect the world’s food supply,” said Kevin Humphrey, Hollison’s president & CEO. “We are focusing our initial efforts in the sampling, detection and tracking of a variety of food commodities for contamination by E. coli O157:H7, Listeria, Salmonella and certain toxins."
According to Humphrey, initial customers are expected in the next few months with widespread availability of the testing methodology in 2010. Hollison will move to offices and labs in the new Center for Business and Research in Owensboro, KY in early 2010.
