Hip Chick Farms, producers of an organic, ethically raised, frozen poultry product, was selected by Time, Food & Wine and Fortune editors to the Most Innovative Women List. The list spotlights entrepreneurs who are changing the world though work in the culinary field. Other winners include Lauren Bush Lauren and Jessica Alba.
Hip Chick Farms is in over 1,000 nationwide stores, including Whole Foods and Sprouts. Chef Jennifer Johnson - Getty Family chef, and the founder of Hip Chick Farms - was a former sous chef at Chez Panisse under organic food pioneer Alice Waters, and has even cooked for President Obama.
As detailed in the Fortune profile, “Chicken fingers and Chez Panisse aren’t terms that are usually associated with one another. But Palandech and Johnson, the couple behind Hip Chick Farms, are bringing a sustainable ethic to the world of frozen chicken dinners. Johnson, a former Chez Panisse chef, develops the recipes, which include spicy wings, meatballs and nuggets, using ethically raised birds from a local Sonoma farm.”
