NEW YORK, N.Y.—The Girl Scouts, USA, recently received complaints involving its Lemon Chalet Cremes. The complaints centered on the taste and/or smell of the cookies. Its inspection revealed that the 15 lots of Little Brownie Baker's Lemon Chalet cookies are safe to eat; but are not up to quality standards. The voluntary recall affects approximately 6.5% of Lemon Chalet Cremes produced for the current season. No other cookie varieties are affected.
Product samples were tested when customers complained of an off taste and smell from certain packages of the lemon cookies. The lots were determined to contain oils that may be breaking down which can result in an off taste and smell.
The Girl Scout Councils that received the affected lot codes are being notified directly, with replacement product provided for councils and consumers.
More information and lot numbers are available at the Little Brownie Bakers and Girl Scout Websites.
