GIE Media was presented its award by local radio personality Mark “Munch” Bishop during a special ceremony.
The Platinum Award, the highest award presented to Harvest for Hunger participants, was given to companies that raised more than $60 per employee or donated $20,000 or more in monetary gifts. GIE Media, which was among 15 other area companies to receive the award, raised and donated $3,843 — which was $767 more than the company raised in 2004.
“The Harvest for Hunger program is a longtime outreach effort of GIE Media,” said Dan Moreland, executive vice president of GIE Media. "The program is enthusiastically supported every year by both management and staff, and it represents one of the core values of our company, which is to give back to the community. It's an effort we're pleased to support."
GIE Media’s contributions to Harvest for Hunger helped the organization raise $2 million in donations, the highest amount the program has ever recorded. With a half million pounds of food donated as well, Harvest for Hunger was able to feed the hungry in 19 counties throughout Ohio.
This year marks GIE Media’s fourth year participating with Harvest for Hunger. For more information on the organization visit www.harvestforhunger.org.
