G&K Services has received notice from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) that it will award the company two patents on its ProSura Food Safety Solutions Program.
G&K’s ProSura program is a proprietary set of protocols, chemistry and handling standards that can reduce the risk of cross-contamination in the food industry.
“This notice is further evidence of the strength of our innovative and proprietary ProSura program, which is helping our customers address their food safety concerns,” said Richard Marcantonio, G&K’s chairman and chief executive officer. “To date, our ProSura Food Safety Solution Program has been very well-received and has supported revenue growth to customers in the food industry of nearly 50 percent.”
Both patents pertain to G&K’s closed-loop process for handling, processing and delivering garments for the food processing and retail food industries. In addition, the patents cover the process for conducting biological testing of the processing surface and laundered garments to validate compliance with particular facility and customer sanitization procedures and cleanliness standards.
“Securing these patents also demonstrates our commitment to take every step necessary to help our customers mitigate the risk of cross-contamination in the food supply chain,” Marcantonio said.
