WASHINGTON, D.C. - The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service this week launched a new service that allows consumers to file food safety complaints online.
The Electronic Consumer Complaint Form (ECCF) will allow consumers to report problems with meat, poultry and egg products, allowing the FSIS to begin an investigation into food safety issues, according to the USDA.
"Consumers are an important source of the information that FSIS needs to ensure that America's supply of meat, poultry and egg products is safe," said Dr. Elisabeth Hagen, under secretary for food safety. "This new tool empowers consumers to report problems directly to FSIS, enhancing our current surveillance of the food supply and our ability to prevent foodborne illness."
