As the food supply is becoming increasingly more global, defending our food supply is more important than ever.  Join the Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI) on June 29-30, 2016, for The Food Defense Conference in Minneapolis, Minn., to create solutions that will lead to a safe, abundant food supply for all.

FPDI’s extensive network of experts from around the world will be heading to Minneapolis to discuss and learn from each other about the current state of food defense. Attendees will have two full days of sessions, networking, and workshops geared specifically to reducing the impact of food system attacks and catastrophic events.

"Those motivated to adulterate our food supply to make money, sabotage our companies, or create fear in our population still exist. It will take all of us in the sector to prevent and mitigate these incidents,” said FPDI Director Amy Kircher. “The Food Defense Conference brings the industry, regulatory, and academic professionals together to develop innovative solutions to protect and defend our supply. “ Kircher has been at the forefront of food defense research, technology, and training for t11 years.

"Food Defense" is the sum of actions and activities related to prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery of the food system from intentional acts of adulteration. This includes intentional adulteration from both terrorism and criminal activities. Criminal activities include economically motivated adulteration, as well as acts by disgruntled employees, consumers, or competitors intending to cause public health harm or business disruption.

The Food Defense Conference is set for June to accommodate the anticipated release of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Focused Mitigation Strategies to Protect Food Against Intentional Adulteration rule.
