Food Protection Services, a food safety pest management and fumigation company in Carmel, Ind., brought on Jeff Beckman as the corporate director of commercial service. Beckman will provide oversight for all commercial service accounts, food safety training and keeping Food Protection Services and our customers updated on all current government regulations and customer third-party audit requirements. Beckman will be operating out of the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, and also supporting the business there.
Beckman graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2002 with a degree in Food Science and Technology. His industry experience includes ten years spent in quality management at a private label co-packer of beans, rice and popcorn as well as five years spent as a 2nd party supplier auditor for a large national bakery and snack foods company. He holds many GFSI certifications including SQF, BRC, FSSC 2200 and ISO 9001.
Beckman’s interest in stored product pest control began early when as a quality manager he contracted Food Protection Services to handle his in-house pest control program and learned the value food safety pest management brought to his quality programs. After becoming an auditor, his interest peaked as he realized many of the pest control programs he was auditing at suppliers had multiple deficiencies, both in documentation and execution, and pest control operators simply were not delivering what they promised. He knew this was not the case from previous experience working with Food Protection Services as a customer. That’s when he decided to join the FPS team to help tackle the industry-wide issue of PCOs that do not understand stored product pest management, the ever-changing and tangled web of regulations, and the third-party audit platforms under which food processors must operate.
