Food Bank Finals: Del Monte "Bets 40,000" on Warriors

Instead of the traditional NBA Finals bet between mayors of opposing teams, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson are joining ranks on a friendly competition to see which city - Cleveland or Oakland - can donate the most money to their local food bank.

This year, instead of the traditional NBA Finals bet between mayors of opposing teams, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson are joining ranks on a friendly competition to see which city - Cleveland or Oakland - can donate the most money to their local food bank.

Del Monte Foods is joining in on the fun by pledging to send over about 3,000 pounds of corn, 17,000 pounds of Mixed berry fruit squeezers, and 17,000 pounds of Peach Mango fruit squeezers - nearly 40,000 lbs of food -  to the Alameda Food bank for local families in need. Del Monte is also promising a “fruity olive branch” offering to their friendly Cleveland rivals, by also donating food to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
