MADISON, Wis. - A federal judge has ordered the destroying of 1,500 cases of food seized from a western Wisconsin warehouse with alleged unsanitary conditions. Judge William Conley of Madison took action, after cat treats to chocolate candy were seized in early February from the Mid-States Closeouts warehouse in Ellsworth.
The Food and Drug Administration inspected the facility last November and December. And officials said they found a lot of rodent infestation, including cases of human and animal food which the rodents had gnawed. U.S. Marshals said they seized the food with the biggest risk of contamination. There were no reports of anyone getting sick from the food handled by the warehouse.
