WASHINGTON - The Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning letter to a bean sprout processing plant in Northeast Portland, citing a rodent-infested facility with unsanitary conditions.
The FDA said inspectors found three live rodents at Lucky Farm, Inc., along with rodent feces, flies and other insects near rooms for growing sprouts.
The letter also cited unsanitary conditions, with workers not washing their hands or changing their gloves after touching potentially dirty surfaces and then handling sprouts.
FDA inspectors spent five days last September and October at the facility, located at 6849 N.E. Columbia Blvd. The warning letter is dated Feb. 18 and was made public on Tuesday.
