WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has updated data requirements for official certificates for imports of FDA-regulated products that contain bovine-, porcine- or poultry-derived ingredients.
Effective immediately, CFIA is requiring the following information in addition to the already existing requirements to be included on FDA-issued "Certificate to a Foreign Government" (CFG) destined for Canada. People can refer to the FDA Food Export Library webpage for more information.
- Manufacturer/Processor Name and Address: Applicants must provide the complete name and address of the facility where the product was manufactured/processed. This information verifies the origin of the product.
- Exporter Name and Address: Applicants must provide the complete legal name and physical address of the exporting company. This information identifies the entity responsible for shipping the product from the United States.
Industry may request a CFG by submitting an online application in the HFP Export Certification Application and Tracking System (HFP eCATS).
