Three weeks ago the House proposed and passed a split version of the 2013 Farm Bill. The split bill followed the House's failure to pass a complete Farm Bill in early July. The failure was largely credited to the GOP move to cut spending on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly the Food Stamp Program. The split bill passed without SNAP provisions in the House on July 10.
In June, the Senate passed its version of the Farm Bill. The House and Senate must now convene a committee to finalize the bill.
