DES MOINES, Iowa - A new farm bill is expected to pass the U.S. Senate by early June, Sen. Chuck Grassley told the Des Moines Register.
The much-delayed bill is perhaps finally reaching fruition. Grassley told the newspaper that the Senate should be able to finish the bill by June 6, a five year, $500 billion bill - if the U.S. House of Representatives acts soon on its own version of the farm bill, the House and Senate could act on a final version of the law before summer recess in August.
"I'm kind of hoping the president gets to sign a farm bill before our August summer break," Grassley said.
