The ProGrade line of magnetic separators includes low-cost plates, grates, traps, tubes and sight glass magnets in various sizes and strengths for food processing application. ProGrade Magnetic Separators are offered in three magnetic power levels: ceramic, rare earth and Xtreme rare earth, enabling plant operators to choose the ideal level of protection for their specific food processing application. Plate Magnets installed in chutes, spouts, ducts, pipes, or suspended over conveyors remove tramp iron which prevents costly shutdowns from machinery damage. These magnetic separators also prevent spark-caused fires and explosions and improve product purity. Grate magnets in the ProGrade line help remove ferrous contamination from dry products such as powders or granules, and include square and rectangular, round, grates in housing, easy-to-clean grates in housing, and model pm aftermarket rare earth drawer magnets. Ferrous traps remove ferrous contamination from liquid products flowing through two, three and four-inch diameter pipelines. These ferrous traps use 316L stainless steel magnetic tubes and various housing designs in standard and sanitary designs and Rare Earth and Xtreme Rare Earth magnetic circuits.

The ProGrade line also includes individual magnetic tubes, available in one-inch diameter (25 mm) and from four inches (100 mm) up to 24 inches (610 mm) in length. They are used to remove ferrous contaminants from liquids in tanks, as a quality control check of dry bulk materials and in many other ways where a powerful, portable magnetic power source is needed in food processing.

For further protection from metal contamination, Eriez recommends the “double team” approach of pairing ProGrade magnetic separators with metal detectors. Working in conjunction, the ProGrade magnet removes the ferrous contamination while the metal detector focuses on any ferrous missed by the magnet as well as nonferrous metals, i.e., aluminum, copper, brass and stainless steel.
