CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - Emerald Performance Materials Specialties Group announced that it has met the requirements of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 2 certification program at its Cheyenne, Wyo., plant.
Emerald's Cheyenne plant manufactures silicone and non-silicone anti-foam chemistries for the food industry, and was the first chemical manufacturer of its type to receive Hazard Analysis Criteria Control Point (HACCP) accreditation in 2004.
SQF is a fully integrated food safety and quality management system designed specifically for the food sector. It includes safety and quality requirements for raw materials and ingredients as well as processed and prepared foods and beverages.
"We are very pleased to attain this certification and be able to document our plant's high safety and quality standards," said Frank Magazine, business manager for Emerald Foam Control, an operating unit of Emerald Performance Materials. "SQF means something to our customers and to the industry as a whole."
According to Magazine, the SQF accreditation process was not as much about changing processes, adding equipment or technology, but involved additional training, procedures and documentation. For more information, visit EmeraldMaterials.com.
