Ohio State University and USDA CSREES will hold a conference an antibiotic resistance April 2-3, in Washington, D.C.
The goal of this conference is to bring together scientists from academia, government agencies and industry to address this issue. The conference will provide a multidisciplinary platform to address the antibiotic resistance (AR) issue as it relates to the food chain, focusing on commensal bacteria and pathogenic bacteria in AR evolution, maintenance and transmission.
The conference will discuss risk assessment and AR reduction strategies, propose future research directions, and develop education and outreach approaches for the industry, regulators, public health authorities and consumers to combat the AR problem worldwide.

- Antibiotic resistance in the food chain
- Antibiotic resistance transmission and persistence
- Risk management approaches
- Extension and outreach: integrated control strategies
