The Chinese Ministry of Health has announced plans to revise standards around food packaging additives, and a U.S. legal expert says the new standards are only one "piece of the puzzle," reports FoodProductionDaily.com.
Mark Thompson, associate at the law firm Keller and Heckman, told the website that China’s attitude to compliance in terms of food packaging material is a step in the right direction. The new standards affect only the additives allowed in food packaging in China.
“There is a gradual trend toward regulatory compliance, particularly when dealing with multinational companies, which are very conscious of regulatory requirements,” Thompson said.
