MINNEAPOLIS — Cargill Salt has launched a comprehensive redesigned Web site, cargillsalt.com, offering ease of navigation, a dynamic new layout and added information on its commercial and retail salt products. The site is designed to ensure a helpful and engaging online experience for users in key customer segments including food manufacturers, retailers, foodservice operators, water conditioning dealers, general industrial customers, feed manufacturers and distributors.
As one of the largest marketers of life enhancing salt products, Cargill offers more than a thousand different products in various shapes and sizes. The company also markets many national and regional brands — from food processing ingredients and industrial salt products to household consumer food and water softener salt products.
“At Cargill, we understand that choosing the right salt can make a difference in our customers’ businesses, so we’ve completely revamped cargillsalt.com to make it easier than ever to find information on our wide array of salt products and their applications. Our new site reflects the extensive product offering and reinforces our role as a trusted solutions provider across several industries,” said Carlos Rodriguez, marketing manager, Cargill Salt.
Simplifying the salt search
The new site helps visitors select the information they need in a variety of ways —whether it’s sorted by the type of business solution they are seeking, by topic area, or by distribution channel, product or brand. For example, on the homepage visitors can select the “solutions for” link to specific salt products, or choose the “browse by” section to search by topic.
Users can also visit the homepage’s “product news” section, which highlights news on a specific Cargill product, or the “market trends” section, which links to Cargill’s InPerpectiveTM salt trends newsletter where they will find articles on the latest salt trends impacting food marketers.
Sorting by channel, product or brand
For the first time, cargillsalt.com offers Web site visitors the option of finding information by distribution channels. So, a food manufacturer can select the “channels” tab and find food ingredient salts for processing; a retailer can find details on kosher salt for cooking; and a foodservice operator can find a full line of foodservice salt products and specialty food salts.
The product section offers detailed information on Cargill’s extensive product offering, sorted by category and by individual product. Users can click on various additional links to pick up a product brochure, a product application matrix and even a material safety data sheet. A “brands” tab also offers information on specific national and regional Cargill brands.
A salt information resource for consumers
One of the most frequently visited sections on the Cargill Salt Web site has traditionally been its “‘history of salt” section. On the new cargillsalt.com, this section features easy navigation and quick access to educational information about salt through the ages.
“Our new Web site is another way to demonstrate that Cargill Salt has the knowledge, capabilities and ingredients to work with our customers to develop products that meet today’s consumer needs,” Rodriguez added.
