OLATHE, Kan. - Birko's CON-TACT-IT Bacteria Detection System makes bacterial sampling easy, precise and economical, the firm said.
The system is an effective way to check for the presence of bacteria on a previously cleaned surface or on the surface of produce items, Birko said. Originally developed to monitor the efficacy of cleaning and sanitation operations and products before the start of daily production, CON-TACT-IT soon found its way into many food processing facilities, Birko reports. It is useful for monitoring sanitation programs and for detecting airborne contaminants, all without special training, according to Birko.
The CON-TACT-IT Starter Kit, which includes an incubator, 46 standard agar plates and two tape samplers, costs $650 plus shipping. All agar plates except SCPA are $2.50 each, and additional tape dispensers are $450 each. For more information, visit birkocorp.com.
