With H5N2 virus spreading across the farms of U.S. egg producers, affecting nearly 35 million egg-laying hens and causing widespread egg shortages and increased prices, the U.S. plans to allow the import of egg products from Europe – for the first time since 2002. The egg products to be imported from the Netherlands will be used for processed foods and commercial baking.
