Bio-Rad Launches EZ-Check Salmonella Kit

HERCULES, Calif. — Bio-Rad Laboratories, a global provider of life science research and clinical diagnostics products, launched EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit, describing it as a rapid qualitative test for detection of Salmonella spp. in a variety of food and environmental samples. The test has been validated by AOAC International (under the AOAC Research Institute Performance Tested Method Program) and certified NF VALIDATION by AFNOR Certification, Bio-Rad said.

Bio-Rad’s ready-to-use EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit uses PCR with the intention of delivering streamlined workflows with rapid time to results, featuring multiplex amplification of the target pathogen and an internal control to prevent false negatives, while the duplex detection system enhances accuracy and simplifies reaction set up, the company said.

The EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit has been validated by both international certification organizations on parameters such as robustness, product consistency, stability, inclusivity and exclusivity and matrix studies, Bio-Rad said. In addition, Bio-Rad’s iQ-Check Free DNA Removal Solution was validated as part of the workflow for testing all matrices included in the validation scope, the company said.

Detection of Salmonella remains a critical priority for food manufacturers as contamination can lead to severe health risks and costly product recalls. The EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit enables food producers to enhance quality control processes, minimizing the risk of outbreaks while ensuring compliance with global food safety standards, the company said.
